A few things you may be wondering...
1. What is Study Box Academy?
Study Box Academy is an educational support program for home-educated students in Years 7–12. We provide teacher-led learning in selected subjects, helping families bring professional teaching and academic direction into their home education.
2. Is Study Box Academy a school or tutoring service?
Neither. SBA is not a registered school, and our programs go beyond occasional tutoring. Students enrol in selected subjects and participate in ongoing teaching, learning activities, assessment and feedback as part of their broader home education program.
3. Do parents have to teach the subjects their child studies with SBA?
SBA provides the teaching, learning resources, assessment, marking and feedback for subjects studied with us. Parents remain responsible for their child's overall home-schooling program and registration.
4. How will my child learn online?
Students attend live, teacher-led online classes through a secure video-learning platform, with small groups of up to 10 students. A dedicated online classroom is also used for resources, weekly tasks, assessment and feedback.
5. Is the learning aligned with the NSW syllabus?
Yes. SBA programs are aligned with the applicable NSW syllabuses, giving families a clear academic foundation for the subjects studied with us.
6. How will I know my child is progressing?
Families receive regular feedback on learning activities, marked assessments, half-yearly and end-of-year academic reports, and an organised Evidence of Learning Summary for subjects studied with Study Box Academy.
7. Can we choose only the subjects we need?
Yes. Families can select SBA subjects to form part of their child's broader home education program, rather than enrolling in every learning area through SBA.
8. Can a home-schooled student still work towards an HSC?
Yes, but the HSC pathway is separate from SBA enrolment. Students seeking an HSC must enrol through an eligible school or recognised provider and meet NESA requirements. SBA may provide supplementary academic teaching, but does not award the HSC or calculate an ATAR.
9. What pathways are available after Year 10?
There isn't one pathway for every student. Depending on their goals, families may explore continued registered home schooling, an HSC pathway, TAFE, vocational education or other permitted education and training options. SBA can help families understand the academic considerations around the pathway ahead.
